A Study on Kindergarten Teachers` Curriculum implementation Based on Children`s Local Community The purposes of this study were to compare and analyze the kindergarten curriculum implementation between Seoul and Chonnam and to suggest some exemplary lesson plans and activities reflecting the characteristic of a rural community. Eighty four kindergarten teachers in Seoul and 84 teachers in Chonnam areas were selected. They were administered a questionnaire as to the curriculum implementation. Formats for questions included Litert-type scales, rankings, and open-ended descriptions. Supplementary observations and interviews with teachers in six kindergartens in Chonnam area were also carried out. Major findings can be summarized as follows : Teachers in both areas considered the community resources the least when they plan learning activities, and select learning materials. Teachers in Chonnam area however, considered the community resources more than the teachers in Seoul. Teachers in chonnam area took field trips and invited resource persons more often thatn the teachers in Seoul Teachers in Chonnam area had a more positive attitude to the curriculum based on children`s local community than the teachers in Seoul. Significant differences between the teacher of two areas were also found in the materials they refer when they plan learning activities, and in the reasons why their planned activities were not carried out. Results of the observations and interviews done in the kindergartens in Chonnam area suggested that the teachers need to make efforts to connect the learning content with the community resources.
