This study investigates the life of a kindergarten teacher as it is. Subjects were 207 teachers who teach in private kindergartens in a metropolitan area. Two methods were used in this study : questionnaire and interview (5persons). The results of this study are as follows: 1. Among motives for being kindergaten teacher, the highest-ranked answer was that I chose it of my own free will.` The motive for the choice was fulfillment of their childhood aspirations to be teachers. 2. As to kindergarten teacher`s self image, the merit of kindergarten teaching as compared to other jobs was that teacher always lives with children who are pure in heart. The difference between a kindergarten teacher and a private institute instructor is that the kindergarten teachers think that they focus on education for the whole person. Many teachers answered that if their children become kindergarten teachers, they will be in favor of it because it it their children`s wish. 3. Kindergarten teachers felt happy and worthwhile when they saw the children growing and they won recognition from the children`s parents. On the other hand, kindergarten teachers felt like giving up their job when they had trouble with children`s parents. Many teacher s(70%) had the experience of transferring to another kindergarten. The main reason for these changes was the distance between their home and their work place. 4. As to kindergarten teacher`s life-plan, many teachers said that they would carry on their job as long as they could. They wanted to become kindergarten principals. Lastly, when I asked teachers a question, What advice would you give to a junior teacher?, many teachers answered, lease be a teacher who has a student-like attitude.
