This study investigates the effects of the creating fairy tale and related activities on young children`s interest in reading and language expression. Research questions were as follow: 1) What is the effect of the creating fairy tale and related ativities on children`s interest in reading? 2) What is the effect of the creating fairy tale and related activities on children`s language expression? The subjects of this study were 78 aged five children in four classes at Children`s House in G city. Fourty children were in the experimental group and thirty eight in the control group. Both groups had similar home literacy environments and literature educational environment. The creating of fairy tale activity in this study was constructed by researchers based upon whole language approach. It was used over a 16-week perid. The Reading Attitude Inventory(Askov & Fichbach, 1973) and the Language Expression Scales(Lee, 1995) were administered and analyzed by M, SD, two independent t-tests with spss/pc program. The results of this study are summarized as follows: 1) The creating fairy tale and related activities increased children`s interest in reading significantly. 2) The creating fairy tale and related activities increased children`s language expression in all sub-areas significantly.
