Computer technology is recognized as an important tool for children`s learning. Researchers emphasize that a teacher`s confidence toward computer use is related to classroom management and the effective integration of computer technology. This study identifies significant variables in teacher attitudes which predict the attitude they would have toward computers. The instrument was Attitude toward Computer Technology (ACT) composed of 19 items, The results showed that the early childhood teachers who participated in this study have moderately positive attitudes toward computers. They did now fear the technology and they felt comfortable about computers. However, they evidenced no knowledge of how to use computers in the classroom. On the other hand, they had high expectations about using technology effectively in the classroom. The significant predictors of teacher`s positive attitude toward computer technology were educational background and the length of time they had used computers personally. Taking computer literacy pre-service and in-service teacher education courses had no correlation to teacher`s positive attitude toward computers. Moreover, teachers attitudes toward computer use varied with the ages of the children they taught. This study finds that personal computer literacy and educational background are related to teachers` positive attitudes toward computers. To develop more positive attitudes, it is suggested that an integrated computer literacy program is necessary to change teachers` attitudes toward computer technology. Such a program would improve teachers` ability to work with computers and comprise teaching strategies which integrated the computer into the curriculum.
