It was belived that oral health is interrelated with general health on the aged Koreans. In order to collect the basic data for planning dental health programmes, the author examined dental and general health status of 601 male and 680 female Koreans in the age of 65 and over, which were extracted by the stratified sampling method on a random basis the aged people in rural and urban areas. The author surveyed for TMD, the percentages of persons with requring and wearing denture duration of wearing edentulous period, the percentages of oral mucosal disease, Urine analysis, blood glucose, SGOT. The author compared the oral status with the general status. Both data were calculated and evaluated.
The obtained results were as follows :
1. The prevalence rate in female was higher than in male but there was no difference of TMD according to increasing age.
2. The edentulous groups of 5 years and over were higher than normal groups in TMD prevalence rate (P<0.05).
3. There was high denture requiring rate in the age group from 75 to 84, but high denture delivering rate in the age group from 65 to 74.
4. The group of persons wearing denture was not correlated with SGOT level(p<0.05).
5. The edentulous group was higher than normal group in blood glucose level(p<0.05).
