국어지식 교육과 문화창조 = A Study on the Cultural Aspects in Korean Grammar Education

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문에서는 '국어지식 영역'이라는 테두리 안에서 지금까지의 문화 교육을 반성하고 앞으로 지향해야 할 방향을 찾아보았다. 국어지식 교육은 우리말에 대한 언어학적 소양을 쌓게 하고 바르고 효과적인 국어 사용을 위한 기반 지식을 확보해 주며 국어 문화를 전승하고 국어의 발전에 기여할 수 있는 태도와 자질을 닦게 하는 등 다양한 가치를 지닌다. 국어지식 영역에는 이런 다양한 가치들을 포괄적으로 수용하여 함께 추구해야 한다. 그러나 지금까지는 국어지식 교육에서는 주로 앞의 두 가치가 중시되고, '문화적 가치'는 상대적으로 소홀한 취급을 받아 왔는데, 그것도 주로 학습자의 정서와 감정에 호소하여 국어와 국어 문화에 대한 일정한 의식을 일방적으로 강요하는 방식이 이용되었고 또 국어문화의 창조보다는 전승의 측면에 더 큰 비중이 두어졌다. 이러한 방식과 내용으로, 학습자의 스스로가 우리말에 대한 일정한 관점을 형성하고 국어와 국어문화의 발전에 기여할 수 있는 태도와 자질을 갖추게 하기는 어렵다.
국어지식 교육의 문화적 가치는, 규범성과 창조성을 조화롭게 추구할 때 온전하게 구현될 수 있는데, 이를 위해서는 언어와 문화, 국어와 겨레 문화의 관계자체를 지도 내용으로 삼아야 하고 '미래의 국어'를 염두에 둔 지도 내용과 방법이 확보되어야 하며, 국어사 및 국어학사, 국어 정책에 대한 것들이 지도 내용에 효과적으로 포함되어야 한다. 무엇보다도 전통 계승과 규범 준수만을 맹목적으로 강조하기보다는, 국어와 겨레 문화의 관계를 객관적으로 이해하는 과정을 통해 국어와 자신의 관계를 인식하고 또 이를 바탕으로 국어와 국어문화에 대한 나름대로의 가치관을 수립하도록 하는 데에 중점을 되어야 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

On this paper, I reconsider the cultural education which has been until now and decide on its future course which we should intend to go within the sphere of the Korean Grammar Education.
The Korean Grammar Education gives various value; we can be well-grounded in the korean linguistic knowledge and take the foundation knowledge for correct and effective use of Korean. And also we can possess the quality and arttitude that we inherit Korean. culture and contribute to the development of it.
Korean Grammar Education should be involved various value stated above. But the 'cultural value' has been treated lightly in contrast to the value of 'knowledge' and 'foundation'. Even more it has been done certain consciousness. Besides we've placed more weight on succession than creation of Korean culture. If korean Grammar Education is done with such way and content, it's difficult that the learners possess the quality and attitude for inheriting and contributing to the development of it.
The cultural vale of Korean Grammar Education can be materialized when norm consciousness and creativity are inquired harmoniously. In order to do this, the contents of guidance should be 'Language and culture' and 'Relationship between Korean language and national culture'. In addition, it should be prepared for the 'the future Korean language' and involved the history of the study of the national language and policy of korean language. Above all, Korean Grammar Education should give priority to the founding the sense of value based on perception of relationship between Korean language and oneself through the process of objective understanding of related Korean language and national culture than the inordinate emphasis on cultural succession and observance of norm.
