장애아동의 형제를 위한 형제 지원 프로그램의 효과 = A Study of Sibling Support Program for Siblings of Children with Disabilities

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 장애 아동의 형제들에게 형제지원 프로그램을 실시하는 것이 그들의 자아개념과 장애 형제를 대하는 행동에 영향을 미치는가를 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 6세-8세에 해당하는 자폐 및 정신지체 아동의 비장애 형제 23명을 선정하여 그중 11명에게 형제지원 프로그램을 실시하였다. 프로그램에 참가한 실험집단과 프로그램에 참여하지 않은 통제집단 간의 프로그램 실시 전과 후의 자아개념 검사와 장애 형제를 대하는 행동에 대한 검사의 차이의 차를 검증한 결과, 장애형제를 대하는 행동에 있어서는 전체적으로 실험 집단이 프로그램에 참가한 후 긍정적으로 변화한 것으로 어머니에 의해 평정되었고, 자아개념 검사 중 '일반적 충족감'과 '또래"요인의 하위검사에서 통계적으로 의의 있는 수준으로 향상되었다. 위와 같은 결과를 통해 장애형제를 지님으로 인해 특수한 경험과 갈등을 지니고 성장하는 장애아동의 형제를 위한 형제지원 프로그램이 그들의 장애형제와의 관계에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 자아개념 검사의 일부 하위항목에서는 유의한 차이를 나타내지 않았으므로 이러한 형제지원 프로그램과 자아개념간의 관계에 대한 추후 연구의 필요성이 제기되며, 좀 더 다양한 유형의 형제지원 프로그램의 개발이 촉구된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The concept of family support is a crucial element of recent special educational service for children with disabilities. Siblings who have brothers and sisters with disabilities, often experience unique challege and need support to overcome those difficulties. This study was designed to implement a sibling support program and to investigate the program effect on sibling's self-concept and behavior toward their diabled siblings.
Subject of this study was 23 siblings of children with disabilities. Pre and post tests were individually administered in the area of self-concept and behavior toward siblings with disabilities. The experimental group participated in 5 session play-based sibling support program. In order to investigate the difference between two groups, data analysis was done using t-test. The results revealed significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in 3 of 4 sub-categories of behavior scale. Those three categories are "receptivity", "hostility", "support." The experimental group showed significantly higher score in receptivity and support, and lower score in hostility. Significant difference was also found in 2 sub-categories of self-concept, but not in the other 3 sub-categories.
Overall, it can be concluded that play-based sibling support program for siblings of children with disabilities was effective in changing the behavior toward siblings with diabilities. Further research is recommended to develop various sibling support program for siblings of children with disabilities.
