순천 송광사 소장 목판에 대한 고찰 = A Study on Woodblocks in Songgwangsa Temple

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 송광사에서 소장하고 있는 목판 3,900여 판의 내용과 형태를 분석한 것이다. 연구 결과 목판은 72종이 현존하고 있는데, 이것은 송광사에서 간행한 목판의 대부분이 남아 있는 것으로, 17세기 목판이 반 이상을 차지하고 있다. 내용 분석 결과 책판류는 47종, 비책판류는 15종으로, 비책판류는 도판 6종, 진언류 7종, 기타 2종으로 확인된다. 책판은 강원 이력과목 11종과 의식집 9종이 전해지고 있으며, 지눌의 저술과 승려의 문집 9종 현존한다. 중요한 특징으로 선서류(禪書類) ｢인천안목｣, ｢종경촬요｣, ｢청량답순종심요법문｣, ｢정선사가록｣ 책판과 학습서로 ｢천자문｣, ｢유합｣, ｢동몽선습｣, ｢백련초해｣ 책판이 전해지고 있어, 조선시대 송광사의 사상적 경향과 승려 교육이 체계적으로 이루어졌음을 알 수 있다. 형태 분석 결과 모두 장방형이며, 크기는 16세기 8종의 목판이 1판 4장의 크기가 큰 형태이며, 16세기 이후 간행된 60종이 1판 2장의 형태를 보인다. 마구리는 대체로 판의 크기와 같거나 조금 더 긴 형태로 제작되었다. 크기와 마구리의 형태는 조선 초기와 후기 목판의 형태적 차이를 나타내고 있다. 송광사의 72종의 목판은 조선시대 송광사의 사상적 특징, 시기별 목판 간행 활동과 변화를 보여주고 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study analyzed 3,900 woodblocks held by Songgwangsa Temple by dividing them into content and form. As a result of the study, 72 types of woodblocks exist, and most of the woodblocks published by Songgwangsa Temple remain, which is characterized by more than half of the woodblocks of the 17th century. As a result of the content analysis, it was identified in accordance with their purpose that there were 47 types of woodblocks for printing, 6 types of woodblocks of figures, 7 types of woodblocks of mantras, and 2 other types. And according to the details, 11 types of the course of I-ryeok and 9 types of ritual collections are handed down, and there are 9 types of books written by Jinul and monks. Important characteristics include the book editions of Seon(禪), Incheonanmok, Jonggyeongchwalyo, Cheongryangdapsoonjongsimyobeopmun and Jungseonsagarok indicating that the ideological trend of Songgwangsa and the book editions of Baekryeonchohae, Cheonjamun, Yuhap, Dongmongseonseup indicating that monk education was systematically conducted in the Joseon Dynasty. As a result of the morphological analysis, all 8 types of woodblocks in the 16th century are rectangular in size, with one plate and four pages and 60 types published after the 16th century are rectangular in size, with one plate and two pages. The end pieces were generally made in the same or slightly longer shape as the board. The size and shape of the end pieces can be seen as showing the shape of early and late woodblocks in Joseon Dynasty. The 72 types of woodblocks of Songgwangsa show the activities and roles of Songgwangsa and changes in woodblock production in terms of its form in the Joseon Dynasty.
