‘Geoyeongsanjakbeopjeolcha(擧靈山作法節次)’ in Jebanmun(諸般文, outline of Buddhist Rituals) of Geumsansa(Geumsan Temple) published in 1694, is the procedure for performing Yeongsanjakbeop(靈山作法, the rule of conduct for Vulture Peak ritual)’. Yeongsanjakbeop is the procedure by which the public recites Saddharmapuṇḍarīka Sūtra(法華經, The Lotus Sutra) together, for which the ceremony to welcome the master who will preach the sutra is Geoyeongsanjakbeopjeolcha. Jebanmun of Geumsansa organizes the ceremony to welcome the spirits(迎魂式) before Geoyeongsanjakbeopjeolcha, which shows that Yeongsanjakbeop aims to tell the spirits the scriptures. Beomeumsanbbojip (the collection of Brahma voice) in the early 18th century, reflected the changes that occurred from the time before Jebanmun of Geumsansa was published.
Geoyeongsanjakbeopjeolcha was divided into carrying the Buddhist scroll painting and carrying the master, but there are not a few things to be improved in its formality and procedure. It is acceptable to chant the gāthā for going up onto the dharma table, the gāthā for seating the Buddha, and the gāthā for offering a seat while carrying the Buddhist scroll painting, and to say hello when the master goes up onto the dharma table where Buddhist scroll painting is put. But it should be redundant to add the gāthā for offering a seat to the gāthā for going up onto the dharma table. Also, it cannot be appropriate to chant the gāthā for going up onto the dharma table to the Buddha statue in the Buddhist scroll painting.
Geoyeongsanjakbeopjeolcha in Jebanmun of Geumsansa reflects the reality at that time by accepting only part of the explanation from the previous Ojongbeomeomjip (五種梵音集, the Collection of the five kinds of the Brahma voice). It is necessary to restore Geoyeongsanjakbeopjeolcha in Jebanmun of Geumsansa instead of carrying the Buddhist scroll painting.
