부정신학 없는 해체주의를 향하여: 해체를 바라보는 네 가지 관점 = Towards Deconstructivism without Negative Theology: Four Perspectives on Deconstruction

This study aims to suggest the possibility that deconstructivism is freed from the charge of metaphysics, by critically comparing four perspectives on deconstruction. The mainstream interpretations of deconstruction are often suspected of falling into the problem of ‘negative theology’, which reintroduces new metaphysics in order to criticize traditional metaphysics. However, the attempt to overcome traditional metaphysics need not depend on new metaphysics. It is possible to criticize theoretical structures postulated by traditional metaphysics, without depending on any metaphysics. First, I will point out the problem in Rodolphe Gasché’s mainstream interpretation, which determines deconstructivism as a quasitranscendental philosophy (Chap. 2). Next, I will also reject Richard Rorty’s alternative interpretation, which determines deconstructivism as ironism (Chap. 3). Furthermore, I will criticize even Hiroki Azuma’s interpretation, which denounces the previous interpretations as negative theologies, for not overcoming the problem of negative theology (Chap. 4). Rather, I will claim that the possibility of overcoming the problem of negative theology is found in Newton Garver and Seung-Chong Lee’s interpretation, which seeks to complement Derrida’s deconstructivism with Wittgenstein’s naturalism (Chap. 5). Nevertheless, I will argue the possibility of deconstructivism without negative theology, by emphasizing that deconstructivism already includes naturalism in itself (Chap. 6).

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 해체를 바라보는 네 가지 관점을 비판적으로 비교하여 해체주의가 형이상학의 혐의에서 벗어날 수 있는 가능성을 제시하고자 한다. 해체에 대한 주류 해석은 종종 전통적 형이상학을 비판하기 위해 새로운 형이상학을 다시 끌어들이는 ‘부정신학’의 문제에 빠져 있는 것으로 의심받는다. 대안적 해석 역시 해체를 설명하는 과정에서 형이상학에 개입하는 모습을 보인다. 그러나 전통적 형이상학을 극복하려는 작업이 반드시 새로운 형이상학에 의존해야 할 필요는 없다. 아무런 형이상학에도 의존하지 않고서 전통적 형이상학이 상정한 이론적 구조를 비판할 수 있는 가능성은 존재한다. 본고는 우선 해체주의를 유사초월론적 철학으로 규정하는 로돌프 가셰의 주류 해석이 지닌 문제를 지적할 것이다(제2장). 다음으로, 해체주의를 아이러니즘으로 규정하는 리처드 로티의 대안적 해석 역시 거부할 것이다(제3장). 더 나아가, 기존 해석들을 부정신학이라고 비판하는 아즈마 히로키의 해석 역시 부정신학을 극복하지 못한다고 비판할 것이다(제4장). 오히려 부정신학을 극복할 수 있는 가능성은 비트겐슈타인의 자연주의를 통해 데리다의 해체주의를 보완하고자 하는 뉴턴 가버와 이승종의 해석에서 발견된다고 주장할 것이다(제5장). 그럼에도, 해체주의가 이미 그 자체로 자연주의를 포함하고 있다고 강조하여 부정신학 없는 해체주의가 존재할 수 있는 가능성을 논증할 것이다(제6장).
