시설보호 종료 후 자립을 유예한 대학생의 자립준비 경험 = Independent living preparation experiences of college students who delayed independent living after termination of institutional care: Walking on thin ice

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 시설보호가 종료된 이후 연장보호를 받거나 또 다른 보호체계에 거주하며 자립을 유예한 대학생들의 자립준비 경험을 이해하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 연구참여자 6명을 대상으로 심층면접을 실시하였고 질적사례연구 방법을 적용하여 분석하였다. 사례 내 분석에서는 연구참여자들의 경험을 각 사례별로 정리하고 드러나는 이슈들에 대한 해석을 제시하였다. 사례 간 분석에서는 전체 사례들을 종합하여 3개의 주제와 9개의 하위주제를 도출하였다. 연구 결과, 자립을 유예한 대학생들은 깨지기 쉬운 살얼음판과도 같은 길 위에서 ‘어떤 진로를 택할 것인가에 대한 준비’를 하고 ‘무엇으로 생존할 것인가에 대한 고민’을 하며 ‘누구와 관계를 맺어야 하는지에 대한 혼란’을 겪고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 근거로 하여 시설보호가 종료된 이후에도 이들이 안전하게 자립을 완성할 수 있도록 세심하고 개별적인 접근과 지원이 필요하다는 것을 강조하였고, 이와 관련한 함의를 제안하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The aim of this study was to understand independent living preparation experiences of college students who have prolonged institutional care or have been under another care system after institutional care legally terminated. In-depth interviews were conducted with six college students suitable for the research theme, and a qualitative case study method was applied. In the within-case analysis, each participant’s experience was summarized with commentaries on the issues related to independence living. Three categories and nine sub-categories were derived from the cross-case analysis. The life of college students who delayed independent living was described as walking on thin ice. They were “preparing for which career to choose,” “concerned about what to do for a living,” and “confused about with whom to socialize.” Based on the results, policy and practice implications were suggested including sophisticated and individualized independent living supports so that the college students who delay independent living may achieve stability in life.
