2015 개정 교육과정 총론에 대한 미디어 담론 분석 = Media Discourse Analysis of Korean Newspaper Articles on the 2015 Revised Curriculum

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Media discourse has had a huge influence on curriculum revision in the name of public opinions and social needs. This study investigated which discourses major newspaper produced about the general framework of the 2015 revised curriculum, using critical discourse analysis. Media analysis revealed three discourses: “curriculum for cultivating creative human resources,” which was shaped by administrators and curriculum developers; “curriculum for eradicating science and engineering,” produced by experts of science and engineering; and “curriculum detached from educational practice,” shaped by NGOs and teachers’ unions. These findings indicated that the discursive structure of Korean curriculum revision included more diverse interest groups with differing perspectives. In addition, this study showed that administrators and curriculum developers were represented as public enemies in media discourses by outside experts and practitioners who developed counter-discourses against them. Therefore, to mitigate outside antagonism and exert active professionalism as curriculum negotiators, curriculum experts should discuss curriculum revision with various interest groups and explore new curriculum development systems that reflect social needs in more systematic and genuine ways.
