The purpose of this study is to analyze perception and reinforcement way of the teaching competency of master teachers in elementary school, The research questions to achieve the purpose was established as follows: First, how do master teachers perceive teaching competency? Second, how do master teachers perceive their own teaching competency? In order to answer these questions, 185 elementary teachers were selected and were evaluated according to the competency development model of IBSTPI(International Board of Standards for Training, Performance and Instruction) follows: The summary of the results is as First, master teachers have significant differences according to sex and career, but they recognized that things such as psychological characteristic, quality, knowledge, instructional design and development, and teaching guides are important teaching competencies. Second, master teachers answered that they could perform the teaching competency such as psychological characteristic, quality, learning promotion successfully. However, they recognized the lack of teaching competency in terms of knowledge of learning theory, knowledge of teaching method/teaching strategy, instructional design and development, utilization and evaluation of the teaching materials. To reinforce the teaching competency of master teacher`s harmonious role performance, it is necessary to open lacking components as the detailed subjects. We need to strengthen the teaching competency through customized training.
