한국 중산층 남성노인과 여성노인의 사회적 자본 경험과 의미 = 노인복지관을 이용하는 노인을 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 한국 중산층 노인의 사회적 자본에 대한 경험과 의미를 한국의 사회문화적 맥락에서 깊이 있게 이해하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위하여 노인복지관을 이용하고 있는 남성노인 5명과 여성노인 5명을 대상으로 FGI(Focus Group Interview) 방법을 활용하여 심층면접을 실시하였다. 분석은 사회적 자본의 주요 내용인 사회참여, 신뢰, 네트워크를 중심으로 이루어졌다. 분석결과, 남녀 노인간에 사회적 자본의 경험과 의미에 있어 차이가 있었지만 공통적으로 사회참여와 신뢰, 네트워크는 노인의 사회적 자본으로서 이들의 삶에 중요한 의미를 지니고 있었다. 특히 노인에 대한 사회적 통념과 노인들이 지닌 사회복지 제도에 대한 불신은 사회활동이나 네트워크 등 사회적 자본 형성에 부정적으로 작용하였다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 노인복지관을 이용하는 중산층 노인들의 사회적 자본에 대한 통찰력을 제시하고, 더 나아가 노인들이 원활한 사회적 자본을 형성하고 삶의 질을 높이기 위한 다양한 사회복지적 제언을 하였다.

The purpose of this study was to understand the experience and meaning of social capital of Korean middle class elderly people in the social-cultural context. We have carried out a qualitative in-depth interview with 5 elderly men and 5 elderly women in the senior welfare center using FGI (Focus Group Interview) method. Three dimensions of social capital, that is, social participation, trust, and network were used as analyzing dimensions for this study. The result showed that although there were differences in the experience and meaning of social capital between elderly men and women, social participation, trust, and the network were appeared as important factors for their life. In particular, social conventions to the elderly people and mistrust in the social welfare institution negatively affect the formation of social capital such as social activities and network. Based on the results, insight for the social capital of the middle class elderly people participating in the senior welfare center was provided and various suggestions for accumulating social capital and improving their quality of lives were provided.
