The main purpose of this paper is to suggest a model of task-based teaching of English reading for academic purposes to Korean undergraduate EFL learners and explore their perceptions on the course. 26 English major undergraduate students who enrolled in ‘English reading’ at a university in Seoul in the second semester of 2015 participated in this study, and their need was analysed prior to devising the course. On the basis of the results of the need analysis, literature review on EAP reading and previous teaching experiences, a task-based reading course for EAP was devised which was composed of 10 tasks and aligned on the weekly basis. After completing the course, the participants were asked to answer the questionnaire to find out their perceptions on the course. The results showed that they found out some writing skill-related tasks difficult to perform and that they did not prefer to take the tasks. Even so, it was revealed that they found the tasks for EAP reading course useful for their EAP reading skill development.
