대학 무용(학)과 및 무용 전공의 변화와 과제 = Changes and tasks of dance department and dance major in Korean universities

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The dance department and dance major in Korea is decreasing due to the decline of the school-age population and the restructuring of university.
Meanwhile, in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, it is important to cultivate creative talented person to produce new thinking and knowledge. In addition, as the Plan `Reorganization of the University Academic System`are announced by Ministry of Education in 2016, changes of dance in higher education are required.
It includes not only consider multi-semester education system, the focused course-taking(offline, online) which intend to maximize effectiveness and efficiency of education but also reinforce students` career consulting and field practice. Universities are able to operate a dance curriculum flexibly according to major and grade. Particularly, in field practice related to dance, it is necessary to specify the roles of universities and linkage institutions, direction and goals, time of dispatch, activities to be experienced.
Secondly, it should be possible for students to select major and course through a convergence study between dance and other studies. Such diverse interdisciplinary programs will encourage student to reflect on their academic studies and career paths. In order to do this, undergraduate track for multidisciplinary educational program can be made besides traditional Korean dance, Ballet, Modern dance major. It is also necessary to select, develop, and concentrate specific convergence areas such as arts and technology, women`s studies, oriental medicine etc.
The practical case of convergence education can be diversified based on the student`s academic interests, research trends, and local industries.
Lastly, dance department and major should prepare alternative options for students` career exploration and employment. Furthermore, they should join together to establish a administration system for stable dance performance and education.
Specifically, the nurture system of residential dance company based on local theater, Culture and Art Centers is more activated. In order to this, it needs to retain financial aid from the regional disparities. Furthermore, a dance teacher education system to foster qualified dance teacher should be established. It enables dance to obtain their position and validity as a core and basic discipline within the public school setting.
