수도생활과 노년기 영성 = 한국천주교여자수도회가 직면한 노년기 수도생활에 대한 고찰

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 수도생활의 역사가 비교적 짧은 한국 가톨릭교회 안에서, 이미 고령 사회로 진입한 여자수도회 노년기 수도자들의 현실을 미래적 관점에서 조명하면서 그 특징 및 영성을 고찰하고, 미래를 위한 제언들을 살펴보았다.
노년기는 인생의 종착점이 아니라 열렬하게 살아야 할 삶의 한 단계이며 영적 성장의 때이기에, 무엇보다도 자신의 삶을 내면화하고, 다른 사람의 성장을 도우며, 궁극적 완성을 향하여 자신의 삶을 통합시켜 나가야 할 인생의 과제를 수행해야 한다.
또한 노년기 수도자는 일생을 하느님께 봉헌한 자로서, 자신이 발했던 정결, 순명, 청빈의 삼대 서원을 포용과 단순함, 그리고 비움의 영성을 통하여 살아감으로써, 나날이 파스카 영성을 사는 성체성사적 삶으로 나아갈 수 있을 것이다.
이에 수도자 개인은 물론 수도회 차원에서도, 모두가 함께 노년기의 특성과 과제를 충분히 인식하고, 수도 공동체 안에서 노년기의 특유한 장점을 잘 활용하는 적극적 수용과 창의적 대응 자세가 필요하다.
수도회 차원에서는 노년기 수도자들을 위한 적절한 계속 양성의 계획과 실행이 필요하며, 노년 수도자의 수가 적은 수도회들에서는 공동으로 연대하여 노년기 수도자들을 위한 다양한 프로그램을 제공할 수 있도록 해야할 것이다. 그 밖에도 노년기 수도자들의 기도생활이나 영적생활을 북돋울 수 있는 영적동반, 신체적 돌봄을 위한 공동요양원, 요양병원의 필요성을 절박하게 본다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Despite the relatively short history of religious life in Korea, women religious congregations have already entered ‘the aged society.’ In this thesis, I examine the reality of women religious in Korea with a view to identifying notable characteristics and unique gifts of the older religious, and finally offer some suggestions for more life-giving support of the ageing members.
Old age is not merely the terminal stage of life, but that of wise activity and spiritual growth. Aged people are called to carry on the tasks of internalizing their lives, helping others’ growth, and to integrating their lives toward ultimate perfection.
As people who dedicated their lives to serve God, older religious women are called to embody a Paschal spirituality moving forward to an Eucharistic existence. Their vowed life of chastity, poverty and obedience can be expanded with the practice of tolerance, simplicity and emptying.
In the communal dimension of religious congregations, each member as well as each congregation must learn to recognize the characteristics and tasks of old age, dealing with them in active acceptance and creative response. It is important to make use of the specific strengths of aged in community life.
Religious congregations should systematically plan and steadily carry out the training of the members about the ageing process. Congregations with relatively few aged members may provide various programs for the aged by jointing with other congregations. In addition, I suggest, joint nursing homes and joint nursing care programs may be established for prayer life, spiritual accompaniment and physical care of the aged religious.
