두려움과 좌절을 넘어서 = Getting Over Fear and Frustration: Emotional Experiences of Adult Learners at a Cyber University

국문 초록 (Abstract)

근래 성인학습 담론에서 정서에 관한 관심이 점차 증가하고 있다 정서는 오랫동안 학습자의 인지활동을 방해하는 요인으로 인식되어 왔지만 최근 들어 학습상황에서 학습자가 느끼는 정서가 학습에 어떤 역할을 수행하는지에 대해 주목하고 있다. 이 연구의 목적은 사이버대학 학습자들 이 입학시점 이후 졸업 즈음까지 겪는 그들의 학습과 관련된 정서적 경험을 깊이 있게 이해하는데 있다 연구자료는 이 연구에 참여한 서울 소재 Z 사이버대학의 성인학습자들 이 작성한 자
기성찰 글 (reflection paper) 이며， 질석 내용 분석 (qualitative content analysis) 방법을 이용하여 분 석되었다. 연구결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째 사이버대학의 성인학습자들은 그들 이 참여한 온라인 학 습상황에서 학습과 서 로 영향을 주고받는 다양한 긍·부정적인 정서를 경험한다. 둘째， 성인학습자들 이 경험하는 정서는 사회문화적 맥락 하에서 온전히 이해될 수 있다 셋째， 성인학습자들이경험하는 정서는 시간의 흐름에 따라 가변적이다

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In recent years, the Issues of emotion have increasingly drawn the attention of scholars in the area of adult education. The purpose of this study was to explore emotions that adult learners experienced at a cyber university in depth. Reflection papers written by the participants were collected primarily for the study. In addition to the papers, e-mails and SMS messages between the researcher and the participants were also gathered for supplementing the data. The researchers used Qualitative content analysis to analyze the data. The findings of this study suggest three insights: (l) adult learners experienced a variety of positive emotions and negative emotions in online learning that affected their learning (or learning process) and vice versa, (2) the emotional experiences of adult learners need to be understood in the sociocultural context, (3) the emotions that adult learners experienced were variable according to the learning situations and the flow of time.
