전공과를 졸업한 비고용 지적장애인의 가정에서의 삶에 관한 참여관찰 연구 = A Participant Observation Study on Adult Residential Life of Unemployed Graduate with Intellectual Disabilities: Focusing on Necessity of Transition Education

The conditions and affairs about adult residential life of unemployed graduate with intellectual disabilities are deciding how special education scene has been faithfully reflecting the aspects of vocational transition education for the entire school age, and thus, its necessity is being emphasized with its important principle and purpose as the result of special education. Based on this aspect, this study examined conditions and affairs about adult residential life of unemployed graduate with intellectual disabilities through participation observation, one of the qualitative study methods, by targeting one graduate.
As a result, the story of adult residential life of the study target was collected and analyzed into total 7 types; continuance of dependent and lethargic life pattern; continuance of isolated and neglected times; continuance of a playing house of longing for employment activity; daily life of childish retrogression; life of refusing one’s mother as life intervention; continuance of emotional distraction due to changes of residential environment; existence of causing psychological burden and pain to siblings. Through these results, this study plainly confirmed limitation of the study target for not receiving transition education for the entire school age until his adult stage. This study could suggest conclusions and discussions along with the result of the precedent studies with respect to necessity of transition education. In conclusion, the results of this study can be used as basic data required to apply transition education as the formative element of special education curriculum in terms of focusing on school age.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

지적장애 졸업생들의 성인 가정생활에 대한 현상과 모습은 곧 이들이 학교 교육과정에서 전 학령기 동안 전환교육의 측면을 얼마나 충실히 특수교육과정 상에서 반영해 왔는지의 그 여부를 결정함으로써, 궁극적으로 특수교육의 결과에 있어 주요한 원리와 목적으로 그 필요성이 강조된다. 본 연구는 이러한 측면에 입각하여서, 21세 지적장애 졸업생한 명을 대상으로 질적 연구 기법 중 하나인 참여관찰을 통해 지적장애 졸업생의 성인 가정생활에 대한 삶의 모습을 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 연구 참여자에 대한 가정에서의 삶 모습은 총 7가지의 유형으로 수집․분석되었는데, 의존적․무기력한 생활 패턴 지속, 고립적이고 방치된 시간들의 연속, 직업 활동을 갈망하는 소꿉놀이의 지속, 소아적인 퇴행으로 가득 찬 일상, 어머니의 주거생활 교수에 대해 거부하는 일상, 주거환경 변화에 따른 정서적 주의산만 연속, 형제에게 심리적 부담과 고통을 주는 존재로 나타났다. 본 연구는 이와 같은 결과를 통하여, 연구 참여자가 성인기에 이르기 전 학령기 동안 전환교육을 적용받아 오지 못한 한계를 단적으로 확인할 수 있었으며, 이에 전환교육의 필요성 측면에서 연구 결과를 선행연구의 결과와 함께 상호 비교하면서 결론 및 논의를 제시할 수 있었다. 최종적으로, 본 연구의 결과는 특수교육현장에서 전환교육을 학령기중심 측면에서 특수교육 교육(과)과정의 정형화된 요소로 적용하는데 필요한 기초 자료로써 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
