학교 진로교육의 효과 분석 = Effects of Career Education in School

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study investigated the effects of career education on self-understanding, job attitude, career planning and career behaviors, as well as college major decision-making. Korean Educational Longitudinal Study(KELS) data collected by Korea Educational Development Institute(KEDI) were analyzed. The main findings were as follows. First, career education in junior high and high schools had positive effects on career planning and career behaviors, while it showed no effect on self-understanding and negative effect on job attitude. Second, the period participating the extracurricular activities in schools influenced positive on self-understanding, job attitude, career planning, and career behaviors. Third, parents’ support on career education also had positive impact on self-understanding, job attitude, career planning, and career behaviors. Finally, career education and participation in extracurricular activities in schools showed no impact on college major decision-making for students who pursued the higher education.
These results indicated that prior to career education, schools should carry out programs for students to understand their own competence, interest and aptitude as well as to have proper vocational consciousness. In addition, they suggested that relevant policy should be implemented to reinforce the extracurricular activities in schools.
