    The purpose of this paper is to examine the meanings and functions of pragmatic particle `-to` from the viewpoint of text linguistics. The following is the results of the research. First, the letter name of `-to` is a proposition which belongs to the identical class and (so) is bound into the same subject. Second, `-to` is a productive cohesive marker which binds respective subordinate constituents, sentences, segment and paragraphs. Third, considered from the standpoint of an informativity, the major function of `-to` is to introduce an inferrable foreground factor to the text.
