수출주도형 성장전략과 1990년대 산업 발전요인; 이동전화 산업을 중심으로 = Analysis for 1990's National Growth Factors Led by Export-driven Strategy; Focused on Mobile Communications Industry

The commercialization of CDMA has sparked the growth of mobile telephone industry in Korea and localization strategy of mobile products from imports, with the help of explosive increase in the number of subscribers has layed the foundation of further growth. By following growth in export, it turned to export oriented industry successfully. However, the success of the industry has been focused mainly on the growth of the turnover for production, domestic demands and exports. It is now the time to study the structure of industry by analyzing the growth factors and quality of the growth.In this paper, the mobile industry structure, its spill-over effect, growth factors and export indices are analyzed based mainly on I/O tables. The contributions of mobile industry to the nation's economic growth are compared with those of the major industries in Korea. The dynamic trends of structural changes in the major industries are analyzed by comparing the industries structure around the year 1995. And also, as Korea's growth strategy is mainly focused on exports, the analysis considered both growth and exports so that the paper can be used as an policy planning material.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

우리나라 이동전화 산업은 CDMA 기술의 상용화와 함께 본격적으로 시작되었다. 그리고 가입자가 폭발적으로 증가하고 장비 내수시장이 팽창하는 가운데 외산장비를 국산으로 성공적으로 대체함으로써 성장의 토대를 닦았다. 또한 수출이 가파르게 증가하면서 새로운 수출전략산업으로 부상하는 등, 수출주도형 성장전략을 충실히 따르고 있다. 그러나 해당 산업의 성공은 생산, 내수, 수출 등 주로 외형적인 지표에 의존하여 논의되어 왔으며, 성장의 내용과 질적인 측면을 종합적으로 고려하여 산업구조를 파악하는 연구가 필요한 시점이다. 본 논문에서는 이동전화 서비스 및 장비산업에 대해 산업연관표를 활용한 다양한 분석을 수행함으로써 해당 산업의 구조를 파악하고, 국민경제 파급효과, 성장동인, 수출의 건전성 등을 살펴보았다. 또한 분석대상을 국내 주요 산업으로 확장하여 비교함으로써, 이동전화 산업의 국민경제 성장에 대한 기여도와 국민경제 내에서의 위치를 파악하였다. 그리고 1990년대를 두 기간으로 나누어 1995년을 기준으로 전·후의 산업구조를 비교함으로써, 국민경제를 구성하는 주요 산업들의 동태
