국문 초록 (Abstract)

연구의 목적은 S여대의 ‘스터디그룹’ 학습공동체 활동에 지속적으로 참여하는 학생들의 경험을 통해, 그 경험이 갖는 교육적 의미를 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 학생들이 어떠한 동기로 스터디그룹 활동에 참여하고, 어떻게 활동하였으며, 이를 통해 어떠한 변화를 겪었는지를 중심으로 그들의 경험을 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 연구 참여자는 S여대 스터디그룹 프로그램에 3회 이상 참여한 학생 15명으로, 연구자는 이들을 대상으로 면담을 실시하여 질적 사례연구를 진행하였다. 연구결과에 따르면, 연구 참여자들은 ‘홍보’, ‘타인의 권유’, ‘교수학습센터의 지원’ 때문에 스터디그룹을 처음 신청하였고, ‘스터디그룹에 참여하는 것이 공부에 도움’이 되고 ‘친구들과도 꾸준히 만날 수 있었기 때문’에 지속적으로 참여하게 되었다고 한다. 스터디그룹 운영과정에서는 ‘구성원들 간의 신뢰를 바탕’으로 ‘혼자 공부하기 어려운 과목’을 ‘다양한 운영방식에 따라’ 공부하였고, 구성원 사이에는 ‘효율적인 역할 분담’과 ‘정보공유’가 이루어지고 있었다. 또한 스터디그룹 활동에 대한 보고서 제출이나 교수자 면담 등은 모임이 이루어지게 하는 강제적인 요인으로 작용하지만, 학생들에게 긍정적인 의미로 평가받았다. 이와 더불어 연구 참여자들은 스터디그룹 활동을 통한 학업적·정의적 측면의 긍정적 변화를 언급했다. 이러한 연구 참여자들의 지속적인 학습공동체 활동 경험은 ‘자기주도학습 능력의 함양’, ‘학습과정을 통한 배움’ 이라는 교육적 의미를 도출하게 하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study was intended to inquire into the educational meaning of experience possessed by students participating in the ‘study group,’ an activity in learning community, in S Women’s University. Specifically, it investigated the students’ motive to participate in the study group, how they acted and what change they had through this activity, and what turns out to be the educational meaning of this experience. The participants of this study is 15 students who have participated in the study group program of S Women’s University three times or more, on whom the researcher executed an interview for a qualitative case study. As a result of the study, the participants applied for study group by reason of publicity, invitation from other people, and support from Teaching & Learning Center, while they continued to participate because the study group helps in personal schoolwork and constant meeting with friends. As to how to manage a study group, diverse methods of operation were employed to approach the subjects hard to study by oneself, based on the trust among members with efficient share of roles and information among members. Besides, reporting on the activity of study group or interviews with teaching students, which were compulsory factors for the meeting, was still regarded as positive one by the students. Also, the participants reported positive change in the schoolwork and affective aspects through activity of study group. From the participants’ experience, it was possible to draw the educational meaning of ‘developing self-directed learning abilities’ and ‘learning with the process’ in the activity as a leaning community.
