유휴공간 활용을 통한 전통시장 정비사업 활성화 방안 = 태안 전통시장 사례를 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

전통시장은 지역적으로 상업ㆍ경제 및 문화의 중심이다. 그러나 주변지역의 급속한 도시화와 더불어 사회ㆍ경제적인 변화에 대응하지 못하여 그 중심성 및 기능을 점차 잃어가고 있다. 이러한 전통시장에 대하여 마케팅 등의 소프트사업과 상업시설 중심의 시설환경개선이 추진되고 있다. 특히 시설환경개선에 있어서는 상업시설 개선사업이 중심이 되어져, 시장 전체에 대한 활성화가 미흡한 편이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 지역 전통시장을 대상으로, 유휴공간 활용을 통해, 시설환경개선 사업의 효율성 향상 및 시장의 공간적 활성화 방안 모색 가능성을 제시하는 것을 연구의 목적으로 하고 있다. 연구결과 다음과 같은 결론을 제시할 수 있다. 첫째 이용자 만족도가 낮게 나타나고, 개선 우선도가 높게 나타나는 요인을 대상으로 유휴공간 활용을 통하여 개선방안을 제시하는 것은 전통시장 활성화를 위한 하나의 대안이 될 수 있다. 둘째, 전통시장 활성화를 위해 유휴공간에 도입 가능한 기능은, 전통시장의 기능 및 이용자의 행태를 고려하여 상업적, 문화적, 공간적 특성을 반영할 필요성이 있다. 셋째, 유휴공간을 활용한 전통시장 활성화는 전통시장에 대한 사람들의 집중을 유발시키고, 전통시장 상업적 기능 회복, 공간적 활용성 및 문화적 기능 회복을 통하여 도시공간의 재구조화 및 지역중심성 회복에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Local Traditional markets have played an important role in local economy. However it is losing competitiveness because it cannot accommodate timely and social demands. To respond to these problems, Marketing Soft strategies and improvement strategies for the market have been tried. However there are another problems because of improve the physical environment development without considering surrounding conditions. Accordingly, this study attemts to find out a strategy to use of the unused and misused space, to constitute of field in cultivation community connect existing improve the physical environment. The results are as follows : (1) Improvement of unused and misused space reflecting users’ requests and satisfactions is an alternative for revitalizing the traditional market area. (2) The programs for unused and misused space should reflect the characteristics of the traditional market area and the commercial, cultural, and spatial properties considering users’ behaviors in traditional market area. (3) Revitalizing the traditional market area through improvement of unused and misused space can helpful collecting the people, recovering the old commercial functions of market and restructuring the urban planning.
