Unification will be achieve in the near future. The Constitution of unified Korea will be made in the process. At time it is needed to conform the values and the principles that a unified Korea should seek for, and these will be basic principles of the Constitution of unified Korea. The basic principles of the Constitution of unified Korea should meet the following conditions. Firstly, they should be recognized as a universal value, secondly, South and North Korea can agree with them, as well as inside South Korea, and thirdly, they should be consistent with the principles of the current constitutions of Both Koreas. According to these criteria I compared and looked into the basic principles of the Constitutions of two Koreas. Most principles of the Constitution of North Korea including socialism, the Juche Idea and peoples’ democratic dictatorship are not suitable to the principles of the Constitution of unified Korea, except for collectivist principle. In conclusion, the basic principles of the Constitution of unified Korea should be as same as those of the current Constitution of South Korea. Therefore, the main political principle of the Constitution of unified Korea should be the basic order of liberal democracy. But its name, the concept and its details are needed to be more clear. Liberal democracy is the most comprehensive principle that has been evolved accepting the values of social democracy, and forms the basis of the current constitution. I think that liberal democracy is more preferable than democracy. Furthermore, it should be studied that republicanism or communitarianism that emphasize the collectivist and communitarianist values should be added in the constitution of Unified Korea, in order to integrate South and North Korea that have lived differently for more than 70 years and to correct the problems of too atomized individualistic liberalism.
