반성적 저널쓰기 활동이 유아기 어머니의 양육 효능감에 미치는 영향 = Effects of Self-Reflective Journal Writing Activities on the Maternal Parenting Sense of Competence Nurturing Preschoolers

This study investigated the effects of parenting training program followed by reflective writing activity on mothers’ maternal efficacy from January 17, 2011 to February 25, 2011. A pre-test, post-test, control group, quasi-experimental design was adopted for the study. Data were collected from 32 mothers of preschool aged children in Florida (n=27: Mothers Of Preschoolers Organization, n=5: Florida State University Child Developmental Center).
In order to explore the impact of reflective writing intervention, the pre-test scores on maternal efficacy were treated the covariate for controlling pre-existing differences between the treatment and control group.
There was a statistically significant difference between the groups on the measures of post-test scores on maternal efficacy in terms of 'Satisfaction with their parental role' and 'Efficacy as a parent' sub-factors. The findings of the study supported that mothers' self-reflective writing activities in parent education program proved more effective at improving mothers’ maternal efficacy. Therefore, this study provided the evidence to the parent program educators and developers who may be considering the use of reflective writing as a methods to increase the effect of parent education program.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문에서는 유아기의 어머니를 대상으로 한 부모교육 프로그램 운영 시 반성적 저널쓰기 활동이 어머니의 양육 효능감에 미치는 효과를 양적 실험연구를 통해 알아보고자 하였다. 실험은 미국 플로리다 탈라하시(Tallahassee) 지역 어머니 모임인 MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers Organization) 기관의 학부모 27명과 플로리다 주립대학교 부속 유치원의 학부모 5명을 대상으로 2011년 1월 17일부터 2011년 2월 25일까지 총 6주간 실시하였다.
실험처치 효과에 의한 실험집단과 비교집단의 차이를 알아보기 위하여 양육 효능감의 사전 점수를 공변인으로 하여 공변량 분석을 실시하였고, 그 결과 어머니의 양육 효능감 뿐만 아니라 부모역할에 대한 만족도와 자신감 등 하위 요인에 있어서도 집단 간에 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타나 반성적 저널쓰기 활동을 동반하는 부모교육 프로그램의 운영이 부모의 양육 효능감 증진에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤음을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서, 이러한 실험 결과는 부모교육 프로그램 개발자들에게 있어 연계활동의 일환으로 반성적 저널쓰기 활동의 활용을 고려하는 증거 자료가 될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
