정치적 이념, 정부신뢰 그리고 정책지지 = Ideology, Political Trust and Policy Support

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article examines the relationship between ideology, political trust, and public support for government spending. Based on the sacrifice theory originated by Heatherington (2005) and Rudolph and Evans (2005), it was hypothesized that there is ideological sacrifice spurred by political trust in support for government spending. Consistent with the theory, empirical analysis shows that the effects of political trust are significantly more pronounced among conservatives than among liberals, which means the effect of ideology on support for government spending is moderated by political trust. This finding suggests that political trust has a normative importance as well as practical consequences in understanding the policy process.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 정부지출(정책)지지에 있어서 정부신뢰의 역할을 이념적 희생이론(ideological sacrifice theory)을 바탕으로 실증적으로 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 이념적 희생이론은 정부지출 지지에 대한 정부신뢰와 이념적 희생의 교환논리를 바탕으로, 정책으로 인해 개인이 받는 이념적 희생에도 정부 정책에 대한 지지가 발생할 수 있는 요인을 높은 신뢰수준에서 찾는다. 시민인식도 조사 자료를 바탕으로 한 실증분석 결과 2009년도와 2010년도 자료에서 보수성향의 집단에서 이념적 희생이 발생하고 있었으며, 그 과정에서 정부신뢰의 역할을 살펴볼 수 있었다. 이를 통해 정부신뢰에 대한 규범적 중요성과 함께 성공적인 정책수행을 위한 과제라는 시사점을 찾을 수 있었다.
