알파맘-베타맘 양육태도가 자녀의 문제 행동에 미치는 영향 : 자녀 자존감의 매개 효과 분석 = The Effects of Alpha Mom-Beta Mom Parenting Styles of Mother on the Problem Behaviors of Their Children: Mediating Effects of Children’s Self-esteem

The aim of this study was to validate the ‘Alpha Mom-Beta Mom’ scale and to investigate the mediating effects of children’s self-esteem in the pathway between parenting styles and problem behaviors of children. Total 178 mothers of children who are elementary (fifth~sixth grade) or middle school students participated in the study. According to the results, Alpha Mom-Beta Mom Scale presented two sub-factors as predicted, and a Chronbach’s alpha of the Alpha Mom and Beta Mom factors were .878 and .831 respectively. Correlation coefficients of the Alpha Mom and Beta Mom subscale and the corresponding VAS were .377 and .630 respectively. Alpha mom parenting style predicted the level of problem behaviors positively. Also, a child’s self-esteem perceived by his/her mother had a partial mediation effect whereas a child’s self-esteem had a complete mediation effect, reducing the level of problem behaviors.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 알파맘과 베타맘 유형의 양육태도를 측정하는 척도를 타당화하고 이러한 양육태 도가 자녀의 문제 행동에 미치는 영향에 있어서 자녀의 자존감의 매개 효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 초등학교 5~6학년에서 중학생인 자녀를 둔 어머니 178명이 본 연구에 참여하였으며 연구 결과에 따르면, 알파맘-베타맘 척도는 요인 분석에서 문항들이 제작 의도와 일치하게 두 개의 요인으로 각 기 구분되었으며 알파맘 특성을 묻는 요인과 베타맘 특성을 묻는 요인의 내적일치도는 각각 .878과 .831로 나타났고 시각적 아날로그 척도와의 상관도 알파맘-베타맘척도가 각각 .377, .630로 나타났다. 또한, 알파맘 양육태도는 아동 청소년 문제 행동 척도로 측정한 부모가 지각한 자녀의 문제 행동에 정적 영향을 주고 어머니가 지각한 자녀의 자존감이 불완전 매개하는 것으로 나타났고 베타맘 양육 태도는 자녀의 자존감이 완전 매개하며 문제 행동을 줄이는 효과가 있다는 것이 확인되었다.
