다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

There are two special phenomena which mean the beginning of modern Korean literary history. The one phenomenon is the intellectual using the hangeul( 한글) for their literary works. The other phenomenon is the intellectual use the newspapers for publication of the works. The hangeul is a one of the most important symbol of modern figures in Korean literary history. The newspaper is a symbol of modern media.
Along with the eonmun ilchi movement(making the written and spoken language correspond), using the hangeul became a more important factor in literary works than using the Chinese or the mixed script of Korean and Chinese. After all the hangeul became a most distinguished character in soseol in modern Korean literary history.
The main characters of the narratives in early modern Korean literary history are shortness, enlightenment and anonymity. The enlightenment is related with the reality of colonization of Korea. The shortness is related with the instability of system of publication of Korea in that period. The anonymity is related with the censor system.
A narrative and argument were combined in the early modern Korean literary works. The writers tried to express the reality and modernity of the society in modern literary style in the period. The narratives growing longer in the early modern Korean literary history.
