관광객전용카지노 도입에 대한 관광지 지역주민의 영향인식과 태도에 관한 연구 = Residents' Perception & Attitude on a Tourists-only Casino in Jeju

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to explore residents’ perceptions toward tourist-only casino development at tourist region in Jeju island. Casino provides a significant source for development to the region as well as an income to organizations in the tourism industry. In spite of the substantial economic revenues, this industry is often accompanied with social ills such as crime and poverty. Although it has positive and negative characteristics, several factors of residents' perceptions were suggested. These factors were based on the sex, age, job, and educational career.
The paper also provides four suggestions on casino impact ; First, public awareness programs are need to generate casino supporting. Second, social problem solving systems and its social impacts are needed from casino benefit positively. Third, its long-term development strategies are needed to generate potential benefits with core value of casino impacts. Last, sustainable policy makers' supporting is needed to consider gaming casino with tourism industry in Jeju. This study findings support previous studies about residents’ perceptions, but further work should be done to enlarge upon this issue.
