유초연계의 재개념화 : Dewey와 Noddings의 연속성을 기반으로 = Reconceptionalizing Continuity in Early Childhood Education

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

There hasbeen growing interest and effort in continuity of educational experience faced with the transformation in early childhood education system throughout the world. This paper aims to reconceptualize a concept of continuity from transition, from kindergarten to 1st grade, to continuity, from birth to primary grades based upon the ideas of continuity from Dewey’s experiential continuity and Nodding’s continuity of purpose in care education. Particularly, placing priority on the continuity of purpose, which is caring for each other, could lead significant improvement in current practice of continuity education.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

최근 국내외를 막론하고 유아교육을 둘러싼 환경의 변화로 유초연계에 대한 관심과 노력이 증가하고 있다. 이 글은 이런 시도의 한 예로서 연계의 재개념화를 그 목적으로 하였다. 연계가 유치원에서 1학년이라는 한정된 기간에서의 교류활동을 뜻하는 협의적 의미의 전이(transition)를 넘어 출생에서 초등을 아울려 동일한 원리의 적용이라는 광의적 의미의 연속성(continuity)으로 재개념화될 때 비로소 성공적 연계교육이 가능하다는 바를 Dewey와 Noddings의 연속성 고찰을 통해 살펴보았다. 특히 목적의 연속성의 한 예로 제시된 Noddings 정의 연속성은 현 유초연계의 당면 문제를 해결하는데 있어 중요한 토대가 될 것으로 기대된다.
