온라인 정보 검색 과정에서의 읽기 전략 사용 양상 = Exploring Online Reading Comprehension Strategies used by Proficient Korean Readers

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to investigate patterns of reading strategies used by proficient readers when searching and locating information on the internet. In order to accomplish this research purpose, the following research question is constructed：What kinds of reading strategies proficient readers use when searching and locating information on the internet? Data sources were from questionnaires, interview, observation, and think-aloud protocols. These data sources were conducted from six Chinese college students with high Korean language proficiency in K University. Qualitative analysis was used for data analysis. The findings of data analysis suggested that skilled readers applied following strategies when reading online, 1) activating prior knowledge sources, 2) using inferential reasoning strategies, 3) self-regulated reading strategies and 4)critical reading strategies. Also, language switching strategies appeared frequently during online reading. Finally, implications for reading education and future research are discussed.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 능숙한 독자들을 대상으로 그들의 온라인 정보 검색 과정에서의 읽기 전략 사용 양상에 대해 살펴보았다. 주로 K대학 대학원 재학 중인 중국인 대학원생 20명에게 설문조사를 실시하여, 이 중 참여자 조건에 가장 잘 맞고, 또한 연구 참여 가능한 6명을 최종 참여자들로 선정하였다. 참여자들에게 1) 특정한 정보 웹사이트, 2) 검색 엔진을 사용하여 특정한 정보를 검색하고, 평가하고, 종합하도록 요구하는 과제들을 부여하였다. 참여자들이 두 개의 읽기 과제를 수행하는 동안 머릿속에 떠오르는 모든 생각들을 생각 말하기 방법(think-aloud method)을 통하여 수집하고 녹화하였다. 실제의 온라인 정보 검색 과정에 나타나지 않았거나, 미처 표현되지 못한 독자들의 초인지적 사고 과정(metacognitive thought process)을 포착하기 위하여, 사전 인터뷰와 사후 인터뷰를 실시하였다. 설문지, 생각말하기 프로토콜, 관찰, 인터뷰 등 자료를 바탕으로 분석한 결과, 능숙한 독자들은 다음과 같은 읽기 전략을 사용한 것으로 나타났다. 1) 선행 지식 자원, 2) 추론적 전략, 3) 자기 조정적 읽기, 4) 비판적 읽기가 그것이다. 이외에는 온라인 읽기 과정에서 언어 전환(language switching) 양상도 자주 나타났다. 마지막으로 연구의 제한점들과 시사점들을 제시하였다.
