<신숙주부인전>의 역사 수용 양상과 소설사적 의의 = A Study on Literary Acceptant shape of history in <SinSukjubuin chon>

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper aims at recognizing the literary acceptant shape of history in <SinSukjubuin chon>. As the time background of <SinSukjubuin chon> is just a part of history, we check the historical facts appearing in the novel. <SinSukjubuin chon> is also unique in the fact that was based on 《Danchongsilnok》 and 《Saechosilnok》, the authentic historical record. <SinSukjubuin chon> is a work which describes usurping the throne by Suyangdaegun under the King Danchong's rule. This work generally referred to the record of 《Danchongsilnok》 and 《Saechosilnok》 when it was centering on the informations about characters and incidents. On the other hand, the relationship among SinSukju and Mrs. Yun was changing or expanding on the basis of an author's fabrication or imagination.
From <SinSukjubuin chon>, we can find the positive acceptant shape of historical facts under the king Danchong's rule. and also the conflict between SinSukju and Mrs. Yun. In <SinSukjubuin chon>, the writer is trying to explain the reason for the historical facts why SinSukju surrendered to the King Saecho. Mrs. Yun was fabricated character by acceptance of traditional legendary and author's imagination. we can check in it one of the author's historical consciousness on the basis of Confucian justice.
This content filled in a blank of the historical record with traditional legendary and author's extreme imagination. Though the historical facts are mentioned in fragments, we can find out that the author not only has deep knowledge of the historical process concerning with usurping the throne by Saecho, but also in aware of traditional legendary. In conclusion we can vest the status as a model of historical novel toward <SinSukjubuin chon> in the early years of 20th century.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글은 <신숙주부인전>에서 역사적 사실의 수용이 어떻게 이루어지고 있으며, 또 작가가 역사 사실을 바탕으로 어떻게 작품 내용을 허구화하는지 알아보고, 아울러 이를 통해서 소설사적 의의를 살펴보려는 데 목적이 있다.
<신숙주부인전>은 계유정난을 비롯한 세조의 일련의 왕위찬탈 과정에서 신숙주와 부인 윤씨가 겪는 심적 갈등을 중심으로 서사가 이루어진다. 세조의 왕위찬탈 과정은 실록과 야사에 전하는 내용을 비교적 충실하게 수용하고 있으나, 중심인물의 형상화 과정에서는 작가가 인간 심리의 내면을 깊이 파고들어 인물의 행위에 필연성을 부여하고자 하였고, 나아가 세조를 知遇로 하여 출세 영달한 신숙주에 대비시켜 부인 윤씨를 끝내 자결하는 인물로 그려냄으로써 유교적 명분론에 입각하여 신숙주의 변절을 매도, 질책하는 효과를 거두었다고 하겠다.
이처럼 <신숙주부인전>은 역사적 사건 및 이에 관련된 문제적 인물을 소재로 취했으되 사건의 본질과 전말을 왜곡시키지 않는 범위에서 부분적으로 허구적인 재창조가 이루어졌을 뿐더러, 사건의 전개 및 인물의 역사적 행위를 그려냄에 있어서도 현실적인 맥락과 개연성이 전제되고 있어 소재의 역사적 성격이나 실재성이 훼손되지 않았다고 할 수 있다. 이로써 20세기 초 역사소설에서 하나의 典範이 되고 있는 바, 소설사적으로 매우 중요한 의의를 지닌다고 하겠다.
