농촌 노인의 비공식적 사회관계망과의 사회적 지원과 우울성향 = 도시 노인과의 비교

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 농촌노인의 주요 비공식적 관계망인 형제자매친인척, 친구이웃과의 사회적 지원의 구조와 기능이 우울성향에 미치는 영향을 도시노인과의 비교를 통해 분석하고자 하였다. 사회적 지원영역은 정서적, 도구적, 신체적, 경제적 영역을 포함하였으며 각 영역별로 지원유형을 상호형과 비상호형으로 분류하였다. 2008년 노인실태조사자료를 활용하였으며, 농촌노인의 우울성향에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 인구사회학적, 경제적, 건강관련 변수를 고려한 상태에서 형제자매친인척 및 친구이웃과의 사회적 지원유형이 우울성향에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 파악하기 위해 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다.
분석결과 농촌노인은 형제자매친인척에 비해 가까이 지내는 친구이웃이 더 많았으며, 연락과 왕래빈도도 더 높았다. 또한 정서적, 도구적 영역에서 상호 도움을 주고받는 비율도 형제자매친인척보다 친구이웃이 더 높았다. 그러나 경제적 지원영역에서는 친구이웃보다 형제자매친인척과 상호도움을 주고받는 비율이 더 높아서, 일상생활의 주요 영역별로 비공식적 관계망의 역할이 다르다는 것을 보여주었다. 다음으로, 농촌노인의 우울성향에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석한 결과, 형제자매친인척과 정서적지원과 도구적지원을 어떠한 방식으로 하는가가, 그리고 친구이웃과 어느 정도나 접촉하며 정서적 지원 유형이 어떠한지가 농촌노인의 우울성향에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과를 도시노인들과 비교한 결과, 비공식적 사회관계망의 수, 접촉빈도, 사회적 지원 유형 모두에서 도시노인은 농촌노인과 유의미한 차이가 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study examines the association between social support patterns with siblings, relatives, friends, and neighbors on depression among rural elders. In this study, it is assumed that the areas of social support were composed of emotional, instrumental, physical, and financial area. And the study categorizes social support patterns into the two types; balanced exchange and non-balanced exchange. The data used in this study are from the 2008 National Data on the Elderly. The data was analyzed by statistical methods such as descriptive statistics, Chi-square test, T-test, and multiple regression analysis.
The major findings of this study are as follows. First, rural elders report greater depression than urban elders. Second, rural elders have more contacts with siblings, relatives, friends, and neighbors than urban elders. Third, in four areas of social support, rural elders show more balanced exchange patterns than urban elders. Fourth, emotional support, financial support, and instrumental support with siblings and relatives have a significant impact on depression in rural elders. Compared to rural elders, numbers and contacts with siblings and relatives urban elders have a significant impact on depression. Fifth, the survey data indicates that emotional support and increased contacts with friends and neighbors are associated with less depression in both samples. The numbers of friends and neighbors were associated with less depression in urban elderly, as opposed to those who reside in rural areas. Finally, the impact of social support with siblings, relatives, friends, and neighbors on depression are varied between rural elders and urban elders.
