This paper is a comprehensive study of Buyeo fortress. The aim of this study is to consider through the data of Buyeo fortress whether Buyeo fortress is reused or not after Goguryeo conquered Buyeo fortress. The confirmed fortress of Buyeo are as follow. the fortress site of Nanchengzi, the fortress site of Xinjia, the fortress site of Fulaidong, the fortress site of Qinghua, the mountain fortress of Rongtan mountain, the mountain fortress of Dongtuan mountain. The flatland fortress of Buyeo is a built mud fortress or a built mud-stone fortress and a irregular ellipse or a rectangle. Facilities of fortress are 3-4 fortress gates and moats. Buyeo fortress which Goguryeo reused are 3-4 places and is distributed over the whole area of Jilin city. The evidence of Buyeo fortress which Goguryeo reused is the built stone fortress of Goguryeo style which reinforced the built mud fortress in the south of Rongtan mountain fortress. In the 5th century, the time of King Gwanggaeto, Goguryeo seized the whole area of Jilin city where was a capital city of Buyeo. After that time, Goguryeo destroyed Buyeo’s small temporary fortress which the defense function was not strong and built bastion fortress in the strategic location around traffic route. These series of operations tried to check the forces of Wuji that moved southward from the north.
