This paper investigated the new directions of writing education research through dividing into ``methods`` and ``contents``. In this paper traditional research themes of writing education was included in ``contents``, but this investigation focused on research ``methods`` that have not been studied until now. This paper regarded that the methods of writing education research consisted of three parts : (1)exploring the methodology for writing education researches, (2)utilizing the diverse the methods, and (3)application of methodological concepts in other academic sciences. Writing education research will have to progress by developing systematical the methods. And this paper saw that the contents of writing education research consisted of three elements : (1)student-based researches, (2)teacher-based researches, and (3)policy-based researches. The student-based researches will aim to identify the ``writing abilities`` and the constructs of them. The teacher-based researches will have to elements relating to teacher professionalism, especially will focus on writing beliefs, motivators, attitudes of teachers. The policy-based researches are going to concentrate on development and evaluation of writing curriculum and writing textbook.
