인터넷 게시판 수용자의 드라마 해독 연구 = 멜로드라마 〈피아노〉의 사례분석

국문 초록 (Abstract)

인터넷의 등장은 방송과 시청자의 관계를 일방적 전달과 수용으로부터 쌍방향적 상호작용으로 전환시키고 있다. 특히 드라마 등 주요 방송 프로그램과 관련된 인터넷 게시판은 시청자의 다양한 의견 제시와 토론을 통해 여론을 형성하고, 집단적 행동으로 연결되기도 하는 등 방송에 영향을 미치고 있으므로 이에 대한 체계적인 연구가 필요한 상황이다. 본 논문은 인터넷 게시판 수용자의 특성을 구명하기 위해 SBS TV에서 방영된 미니시리즈〈피아노〉(2001년 11월 - 2002년 1월)의 게시판을 분석했다.〈피아노〉는 자식을 위한 아버지의 희생을 주제로 한 가족 멜로드라마로서 여성의 사회적 지위 상승에 따라 등장하기 시작한 남성 위기 담론에 해당한다. 게시판의 시청자 의견을 분석한 결과, 드라마 홈페이지의 대부분의 수용자들은 극중 아버지(억관)의 부성애, 이복남매의 이루지 못한 사랑에 연민을 나타내고, 가족 사랑에 공감하는 등 멜로드라마로서 선호된 해독을 보여주고 있다. 해독의 유형은 멜로드라마적 공감대 형성, 스타덤 만들기 등으로 나눌 수 있으며 인터넷 게시판 팬들은 주로 드라마 상의 사소한 문제점을 지적하는데 그칠 뿐 저항적 반대적 해독은 거의 하지 못한다. 또한 〈피아노〉 홈페이지의 게시판은 자유로운 토론이 이루어지지 않고 제작진이나 연기자들이 전혀 참여하지 않음에 따라 팬공동체의 장으로서 한계가 있다. 결론적으로 〈피아노〉 홈페이지 게시판은 텍스트와 더불어 가부장적 가족주의 이데올로기를 더욱 강화시키는 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

After viewing the latest T.V. episode, viewers go online to discuss the occurrences of that weeks program. Although, cultural studies have discussed fandom-fan culture-as an important aspect of audience interaction through media, audience researchers have seldom examined the online audience. By examining the recent bulletin board messages on the website of the popular Korean melodrama, Piano, I analyze the characteristics of messages on the BBS-bulletin board system-related to melodramas, Piano, depicts the self-sacrifice of fatherhood, and the forbidden love between a half-brother and half-sister. Before analyzing the BBS, I characterized this melodrama as a form of transformation of manhood crisis discourse by patriarchal ideology.
According to the results of this study, the majority of the online audience expressed deep sympathy toward the characters of the melodrama, and was touched by the self-sacrificing father. They seem to accept preferred messages in the text. Moreover, they rarely produce resistive or oppositional messages, Several online audience members point out errors in directing, and make criticisms that this drama attempts to imitate other stories and backgrounds. These results vary slightly from those of a previous study (Lee, Oh-Hyeon, 2001), in which the oppositional readings appear more frequently than the negative readings in the BBS of Can′t Take My Eye Off You. These varying results attribute to different genres: soap opera and mini-series.
Next, I find there to be limitations on the fan community of the BBS, due to the severe lack of characteristics such as, freely interactive spaces. I also discover that there are no responses from the production side and actors. In conclusion, the audience of the BBS plays an integral part in the dominant discourses on drama, and encourages the perpetuation of patriarchal ideology in Korean society.
