Many researchers have revealed that compromise effect stems from careful process to avoid conflict in the choice (Dhar, Nowlis, and Sherman 2000; Pocheptsova, Amir, Dhar, and Baumeister 2009). Temporal distance is likely to decrease conflict in the choice set because consumer places more weight on desirable attributes rather than feasible attributes. Consequently, consumers are like to prefer the best option and consequently compromise effect decreases in the far distant contexts. Prior research has also shown that high-level construal reduces compensatory trade-offs (Khan, Zhu, and Kalra 2011). Our purpose in this article is to extend the prior research (Khan et at 2011) by exploring a boundary conditions which moderate the influences of temporal distance on the choice of compromise option. First, we suggest that product attribute characteristics can moderate the effect of temporal distance on the choice of compromise option. We predict that the choice of compromise option will decrease in far distant future purchase situations than in near future purchase situations as predicted by existing research when the choice sets are consisted of feasible and desirable attributes. Temporal distance, however, will not influence on the choice of compromise option when the choice sets are consisted of desirable attributes only. In addition, we suggest that the choice of compromise option can be influenced by not only objective temporal distance but also subjective one. Recent research demonstrates that subjective temporal distance can be manipulated by abstract and concrete mind-sets (Kyung, Menon, and Trope 2010). They suggest that people feel far away to certain event when abstract mind-set is primed, whereas concrete mind-set makes people feel subjectively close to the event. Thus, we expect that the influence of temporal distance should be changed by consumer mind-set. To examine these predictions, we have conducted four experiments. <Experiment I> has been conducted for replicating the study of Khan et al.(2011). In <Experiment 2>, we introduce preorder strategy that companies are using for launching new products (Chu and Zhang 2011) as means to manipulate temporal distance and predict its influence on the choice of compromise option. The result shows that the choice ratio of compromise option decreases in far distance condition (PB_FAR = 33.3%, PB_NEAR= 57.9%). We also conducted binary logistic regression and found it significant (Wald = 4.582, β = 1.012, SE = 0.473, p<0.05). <Experiment 3> was conducted to examine the moderating effect of attribute characteristics. We manipulated choice sets by changing the combination of attributes. In feasible and desirable attribute combination conditions, we used "CPU" and "price" for notebook PC, "picture quality" and "price" for TV. On the other hand, we combined "CPU" and "HDD" for notebook PC, "picture quality" and "screen size" for TV in desirable attributes only conditions. The results suggested that attribute characteristics moderate the influence of temporal distance on the choice of compromise option. In feasible and desirable attribute combination conditions, the choice ratio of compromise option was weaker in far distant future situations than in near future (Note PC: PB_FAR = 12.9%, PB_NEAR=40.6%/ TV: PB_FAR = 6.5%, PB_NEAR = 53.1 %). Temporal distance, however, didn`t influence on the choice of compromise option significantly in desirable attributes only conditions (Note PC: PB_FAR = 57.6%, PB_NEAR = 50.0%./ TV: PB_FAR = 39.4%, PB_FAR =46.9%). The interaction between temporal distance and attribute characteristics was significant (Wald = 12.020, /3 = -2.110, SE = .609,p < .001). <Experiment 4> was conducted to demonstrate the influence of mind-set. To prime abstract or concrete mind-set, we used the "why" or "how" questioning method (Freitas, Gollwitzer, and Trope 2004). The result was consistent with our prediction. In the condition of far distant choice, the influence of tempora
