삶의 의미의 원천, 구조의 탐색 및 다차원적 삶의 의미 척도의 개발: 대학생을 대상으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 각 개인이 경험하는 삶의 의미를 측정하기 위해 다차원적 삶의 의미 척도를 개발하였고, 요인분석을 통해 삶의 의미의 원천 및 구조를 파악하였다. 또한 대학생을 대상으로 신뢰도와 타당도를 검증하였다. 분석 1에서는 대학생 및 성인을 대상으로 102개의 예비 문항을 구성하였고, 최종 문항 선정 및 요인구조 확인을 위해 대학생 409명을 대상으로 요인 분석을 실시하였다. 탐색적 요인분석 결과, 최종 문항으로 69개 문항이 선정되었고, 삶의 의미의 원천으로 종교 및 영성, 신체 및 정신 건강, 배우자(이성)와의 관계, 봉사 및 사회적 기여, 긍정적 대인관계, 확고한 신념과 실천력, 사회적 성공과 타인의 인정, 긍정적 가족관계, 자녀양육 및 부모되기, 경제적 안정, 타인에 대한 긍정적 영향력, 직업적 성취 및 목표 추구, 사회적 관심과 참여, 자기 이해 및 수용, 다양한 경험과 즐거움 등의 15개 요인이 확인되었다. 다음으로 삶의 의미의 구조를 파악하기 위해 확인적 요인분석을 실시한 결과, 15개 요인은 자기 관련 요인, 타인과의 관계 요인, 영성 및 공동체 의식 요인 등의 3개의 상위 요인으로 구성되었고, 결론적으로 삶의 의미는 15개의 하위 요인과 3개의 상위 요인으로 이루어진 위계적 구조임이 확인되었다. 분석 2에서는 신뢰도와 타당도를 검증했는데, 신뢰도 분석에서 내적 합치도와 4주 간격 검사-재검사 신뢰도가 양호하였고, 타당도 분석에서도 기존의 삶의 의미 척도 및 안녕감과는 유의미한 정적 상관을, 우울과는 부적 상관을 보여주었다. 이러한 결과는 다차원적 삶의 의미 척도가 삶의 의미의 원천과 구조를 반영하여 각 개인이 경험하는 삶의 의미를 측정하는 신뢰롭고 타당한 척도임을 시사하는 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study developed the multidimensional meaning of life scale to measure the meaning of life that each individual experiences, and identified the source and structure of the meaning of life by factor analysis. It also assessed the reliability and validity of the scale by using a sample of university students. First, 102 preliminary questions were derived from a sample of university students and adults, and factor analysis was conducted to select final questions and to identify factor structure by using a sample of 419 university students. Through exploratory factor analysis, 69 questions were finally selected and 15 subordinate factors as the sources of the meaning of life were identified, which are religion and spirituality, physical and mental health, partner relationships, social services and contributions, positive interpersonal relationships, belief and willpower, social success and recognition of others, positive family relationships, child rearing and parenting, economic stability, a positive influence on others, professional accomplishments and goal-pursuing, social interest and participation, self-understanding and acceptance, and various life experiences and enjoyments. Next, confirmatory factor analysis revealed that 15 subordinate factors were divided into 3 factors, i.e, self-related factor, interpersonal relationship, and spirituality and community responsibility. Consequently, it confirmed the hierarchical structure comprising 3 superordinate factors and 15 subordinate factors. Also, high internal consistency and test-retest reliability were found, and validity was established by correlations with the previously validated scale of meaning of life and by correlations with clinical ratings of depression. Overall, results support the reliability and validity of multidimensional meaning of life scale which measures the source and structure of meaning of life.
