후진타오 집권 초기 중국의 대북정책 결정요인 분석 = An Analysis on China`s Policy Making Determinants toward North Korea: Early Hu Jintao Era

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article analyzes several domestic and foreign determinants that Hu Jintao leadership takes into account when it pursues North Korean policy. It seems that the improved relations between China and North Korea in early Hu Jintao era are mainly due to the two countries` international strategic necessites as well as their domestic factors. This article analyzes China`s internal politico-economic situations, especially China`s north east region development projects, and the changing strategic relations between China-U.S. that affect China`s policy posture toward North Korea. It tends to be that the relations between China and North Korea become worse when Pyongyang`s economic situation becomes better, Washington`s hard line policy to North Korea lessened and Pyongyang-Tokyo relations are improved. It is high possibility that North Korea puts more importance on China in order to induce more supports and cooperation from Beijing should North Korea isolate from the international society, and China provides more supports to Kim JongIl regime. The future direction of China`s North Korea policy may heavily depends on its national interests and international environments.
