청소년의 민주시민역량과 언어 환경이 욕설행동에 미치는 영향

국문 초록 (Abstract)

청소년의 역량과 환경이 청소년의 욕설행동에 미치는 영향을 분석한 연구는 국내외에서 희소하다. 본 연구는 이를 중심으로 한국 청소년의 욕설행동을 설명하고자 하였다. 특히 본 논문은 청소년의 민주시민역량과 언어 환경에 주목하여 이것들이 청소년 욕설행동 정도에 영향을 미치고 있는지 통계적 검증을 시도하고 이를 통해 청소년 정책적 함의를 모색하였다. 본 연구는 보건복지가족부의 ‘아동청소년 종합실태조사(2008)’ 자료 중에서 12∼18세 청소년 대상 자료(N=2,306) 분석을 통하여 청소년의 민주시민역량과 언어 환경이 청소년 욕설행동 정도에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위한 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 청소년의 인식적 차원의 민주시민역량(신뢰와 호혜규범)은 욕설행동을 줄이는 효과가 있었으나, 실천 차원의 민주시민역량(참여활동)은 그렇지 못했다. 뿐만 아니라 가정과 학교 맥락의 부정적 언어 환경(가정과 학교에서의 언어폭력 피해경험)은 공히 청소년 욕설행동의 정도를 높이는 효과를 가짐을 알 수 있었다. 이를 토대로 욕설행동의 예방과 감소를 위한 청소년 정책적 제언을 하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The present study tests the effects of competencies for democratic citizenship and linguistic environment on swearing amongst adolescents in a Korean context. Utilizing data (N=2,306) from the Ministry of Health and Welfare (2008), the study performed multiple regression analyses to test the association of civic competencies (interpersonal trust, violation of reciprocity, and social participation) and negative linguistic environments (verbal abuse at home and peer violence at school) with behavior of abusive language used by teenagers. The results are as follows. Interpersonal trust, violation of reciprocity, and negative linguistic environments at home and at school each had a significant association with swearing amongst adolescents. However, participatory behaviors did not appear to have an effect. Based on these findings, the author also discusses the implications for future youth policy.
