사회경제적 배경이 청소년의 학업성취에 영향을 미치는 과정 = The process of socioeconomic background influencing adolescents' academic achievement

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 사회경제적 배경이 청소년의 학업성취에 영향을 미치는 과정을 사회적 자본이론과 가족매개모델을 통해 실증적으로 분석하고, 두 이론의 비교를 통해서 한국사회에서 사회경제적 배경이 청소년의 학업성취에 영향을 미치는 과정을 보다 잘 설명하는 모형을 규명하고자 했다. 이를 위해 한국청소년패널조사 1차년도(2003년) 원자료를 활용하여 구조방정식모형으로 분석하였다. 분석결과 사회경제적 배경이 청소년의 학업성취에 영향을 미치는데 가족내 사회적 자본과 부정적 가족관계는 중요한 매개변인으로 확인되었고, 특히 사회적 자본모형이 한국사회에서 사회경제적 배경이 청소년의 학업성취에 영향을 미치는 경로와 기제를 보다 적절히 설명하는 모형으로 밝혀졌다. 결론에서는 이러한 결과를 통해 빈곤청소년의 학업성취 향상을 위한 정책적 실천적 전략을 논의하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to identify how socioeconomic background affect adolescents' academic achievement.
Using structural equation modeling, this study tested the equivalence of the social capital theory and the family mediation model. For it, this study uses the 2003 Korea Youth Panel Survey data. Also, through comparison of two theories, it identified the better model that explains how socioeconomic background influences adolescents' academic achievement in Korea.
The major findings are as follows. The social capital model and the family mediation model showed the good fitness in analysis structural equation modeling. Family-based social capital and negative family relationships are critical mediators of the effects of socioeconomic background on adolescents' academic achievement. Social capital theory is more appropriate for identifying the process of socioeconomic background influencing adolescents' academic achievement in Korea.
The findings emphasize the importance of efforts to enhance the social welfare policy support for the improvement of poor adolescent's academic achievement. This study suggests that concretely intervention strategies for poor adolescents' academic achievement need to be improved.
