The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effect of motive fulfillment on the relationship between the motivation to volunteer and intention to continue volunteering among older adults. A sample of 300 elderly volunteers in community welfare centers and senior welfare centers in Busan completed the questionnaires and 246 cases were analyzed. The Baron and Kenny(1989)’s approach of sequential regression modeling was used to assess the mediating effect of motive fulfillment. Results of the analyses showed that the motivations of volunteers had the effect on volunteer’s intention to continue volunteering. Also it was found that motive fulfillment partially mediated the relations between motivation to volunteer and intention to continue volunteering among older adults. This study contributes to understanding of volunteering among elderly people by clarifying the mechanisms through which volunteer’s motivations influence intention to continue volunteering. Finally, practical implications were discussed based on the results of this study.
