일반논문 : 불교사찰(佛敎寺刹)에 적용된 비보풍수(裨補風水) 사례(事例) 연구(硏究) = A Study on the Bibo thought of the Buddhist temple

국문 초록 (Abstract)

풍수지리와 불교는 기본원리는 물론 탄생배경까지 관련성이 없다 할 수 있다. 그런데도, 풍수지리와 불교는 서로 결합하여 많은 문화유산을 남겼다. 풍수지리가 불교에 끼친 영향으로는 사찰의 입지 선정은 물론, 가람배치와 같은 공간구성에 영향을 미쳤으며 도선을 종조로 하는 비보풍수 사상은 국역비보, 국도비보를 위해서 사찰, 탑등을 건립하여 지력을 비보하였으며, 사찰은 종교적인 기능과 비보적인 풍수의 기능을 가지게 되었다. 비보적인 기능을 하였던 사찰은 사찰을 보호하기 위한 또 다른 건축물 비보를 하였다. 본고에서는 풍수적 결함이 있는 땅을 보완하기 위한 지력(地力)비보가 아닌, 건축물을 보호하기 위한 비보풍수에 대하여 사찰에 적용된 비보상징물들을 중심으로 고찰하였다. 사찰에 적용된 비보의 유형에는 장풍비보, 득수비보, 화기제압비보 등이 있는데, 이러한 비보상징물들이 가지는 의의는 재해로부터 안전할 것이라는 심리적인 안정감과 경각심을 일깨워 재해를 예방할 수 있는 효과를 가져왔다. 이러한 비보풍수는 우환의식(憂患意識)으로 비보 본래의 목적을 달성하였다 할 수 있다. 심리적 안정감과 우환의식의 효과를 가져온 건축물에 적용된 비보풍수는 선조들의 지혜가 담긴 우리의 소중한 문화유산이라 할 수 있는데, 이를 계승 발전시키기 위해서는 적용원리 및 적용과정 등에 대한 보다 더 많은 연구가 이루어져야 할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

We may say the basic principles and the back grounds of the birth of both Pungsujiri and Buddhism hardly have a relevance. However, Pungsujii and Bddhism has combined each other and left a large number of heritages. Pungsujiri has influenced Buddhism a lot in the selecting of temple locations, as well as the space composition like Garam disposition. The idea of Bibo Pungsu could supplement the energy of the land by constructing temples and pagodas for nation and city. Thereupon, the temples have become to have the function of the religion and Pungsu function as supplementary. The temples performed protective function have supplemented another building for the protection of the temples themselves. This report is focused on the study of supplementary symbols applied to the temples as the Bibopungsu for protection of buildings not for supplementing the land energy. The types of Bibo applied to the temples are Jangpoong Bibo, Deuksoo Bibo, Fire-fighting Bibo, etc.. These supplements have brought the effects of preventing calamities by giving the warning and sense of security from calamity. This Bibopungsu could achieved its original goal through awakening the sense against the calamity. Bibopungsu, applied to the buildings to bring the mental stablenss and sense of prevention of calamity, is our precious cultural heritage filled with the wisdom of our ancestors. For the success and development of it, we have to study more about principle and process of its application continuously.
