유아의 수학활동에 있어서의 부모의 역할에 관한 연구 = A Study on the Parents` Role to Mathematical Activities in Young Children

Children build a new understanding of the mathematical concepts as they observe, explore, investigate and discuss. The opportunity to interact and play with materials and other individuals enables children to construct, share, modify, and integrate their ideas. This study includes with several goals in my mind. The main goal is to help parents of young children use home activities to challenge their children`s minds. First, parents need to see that mathematics is everywhere. Even if parents don`t think they are very good at mathematics, they are already using it successfully! A second goal is to help children enjoy mathematics. Maybe parents didn`t think mathematics was fun when they were in school, but when children play with mathematics in their everyday lives they can grow up loving it. Children learn by doing by moving, touching, tasting, feeling, and seeing. They learn by asking questions. A third goal is to help parents ask questions and get their children thinking. It is not just the activities that children do that help them learn, but the questions parents and their children both ask and the things parents point out that get them thinking mathematically. Parents have tried to explain some of the reasons for activities so that they can better answer children`s questions and ask them questions. The parents`s role to mathematical activities for children are various method that Problem solving, Communication, Reasoning, Connections, Patterns and Relationships, Number sense, Geometry and spatial sense, Measurement, Fractions, Estimation, Statistics and Probability.
