This study examined how the needs of internet use and psycho-social variables affect the Game Addiction of adolescents. The direct, indirect effects of Internet Use Needs and psycho-social variables were investigated by sex. Subjects were male 255, female 512, total 757 junior high school students who performed game addiction scale, internet use needs scale, aggression scale, self-esteem scale, communication type scale in family, and friend relationship scale. The result is as followed : First, the game addiction score, the game time a day, the duration of game use of male were higher than those of female. Second, male showed higher need for self-changing and lower need for interpersonal relationship than those of female. Third, the results of multiple regression analysis showed that aggression, internet use needs, and self-esteem predicted the game addiction score in male, and that needs for internet use, aggression, and communication type in family predicted game addiction score in female. Forth, the result of path analysis showed that communication type in family and self-esteem affected the game addiction indirectly. The implication of these findings and the limit of this study were discussed.
