국제사회에서의 세계화, 민주화, 반부패 간 연관성 고찰 : 정부 형태 및 국민 일인당 순소득 유형별 분석 = An Examination on the Associations among Globalization, Democratization, and Anti-Corruption in International Society: Focusing on Government Types and GNI Per Capita

국문 초록 (Abstract)

국제사회가 추구하는 바람직한 사회는 정치적으로 민주화되어 있고, 경제적으로 발전된 사회인 것이다. 정치적 민주화와 경제발전이 국제사회 특히 개도국의 국가적 과제인 것이다. 오늘날 세계화의 흐름은 주로 선진국 혹은 선발개도국에게만 긍정적 영향을 끼치고 있다는 점을 본 연구는 보여주고 있다. 세계화, 민주화, 반부패 간 연관성은 1인당 국민순소득 수준 최상위 국가군과 최하위 국가군에서는 잘 입증되나 그 중간 국가군에서는 모호한 결론을 도출할 수밖에 없다. 본 연구는 그동안 연구해 온 세계화, 민주화, 반부패 간 연관성을 보다 세밀히 파악하기 위해 그 개입 변인으로 정부 형태와 1인당 국민순소득 수준을 활용하여 재검토 한 것이다. 그 결과 정부 형태는 정치 일반이론과는 거리가 먼 모호한 해석을 초래하였다. 하지만 개별 국가의 경제발전 수준을 가늠하는 1인당 국민순소득 수준은 세계화, 민주화, 반부패 수준을 설명하는 지표로서 잘 작동하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 간략히 언급하면, 세계화의 흐름 속에서 민주화와 투명성이 제고되는 국가는 결국 선진국 및 일부 선발개도국에 한정됨을 파악할 수 있다. 역설적으로 말하면, 경제발전을 통한 삶의 질 제고가 의식 개혁으로 이어져 민주화와 투명성을 가져옴을 이해할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

We pursue an international society which is politically democratized and economically developed. The most important task of international society including developing countries is political democratization and economic development. This study shows that today's tides of globalization have a positive influence on only developed countries or advanced developing countries. The associations among globalization, democratization, and anti-corruption are well verified in the groups of nations with the higher level of GNI and the lower level of GNI, but not verified with the group of nations with the mid-levels of GNI. This research paper deals with the forms of government and GNI per capita as intervening variables to grasp the associations among the three variables. It concludes that the forms of government don't affect the associations even if the levels of GNI per capital are highly related to them. Briefly, the three phenomena including globalization, democratization and transparency go together only in developed nations and advanced developing nations.
