유아의 성, 연령, 기질, 어머니의 취업 여부와 우울이 어머니의 양육 스트레스에 미치는 영향 = Effects of Preschool Children's Gender, Age, Temperament, Mother's Employment Status and Maternal Depression on Maternal Parenting Stress

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purposes of this study were (1) to explore differences in maternal parenting stress according to the gender of the children, the children's age, and mothers' employment statuses, and (2) to investigate the effects of the gender of the children, the children's age, the temperament of preschool children, mothers' employment statuses, and of maternal depression on maternal parenting stress. The participants were 173 preschool children and their mothers from three day care centers and two kindergartens in Seoul and Gyeong-gi province. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlations, and multiple regressions. The results showed that (1) there were no statistically significant differences in the gender of the children, the children's age, or mothers' employment status with regard to maternal parenting stress, and (2) negative emotionality in preschool children explained maternal parenting stress. Mothers who perceived more depression, experienced more maternal parenting stress.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 유아의 성, 연령에 따라 어머니가 지각하는 양육 스트레스에 차이가 있는지, 또한 어머니의 취업 여부에 따라 어머니가 지각하는 양육 스트레스에 차이가 있는지 살펴보고자 하였다. 그리고 유아의 개인적 특성인 성, 연령, 유아의 기질과 어머니의 특성인 어머니 취업 여부, 우울이 어머니의 양육 스트레스에 미치는 상대적 영향력을 파악하여, 유아기 자녀를 양육하는 어머니의 양육 스트레스를 완화시킬 수 있는 요인을 탐색하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 서울시와 수도권에 소재한 어린이집과 유치원에 재원하는 3~5세 유아 173명과 그들의 어머니들을 대상으로 하였으며, 자료 분석을 위해 각 변인에 대한 기술적 통계치, t 검증, 이원변량분석, Pearson의 적률상관계수, 중다회귀분석을 사용하였다. 연구 결과를 살펴보면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아의 성, 연령에 따라 어머니의 양육스트레스에는 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 둘째, 어머니의 취업 여부에 따라 어머니의 양육스트레스에는 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 셋째, 어머니의 양육 스트레스에 미치는 유아의 성별, 연령, 기질, 어머니의 취업 여부, 어머니의 우울 관련 변인들의 상대적 영향력을 조사한 결과, 어머니의 양육 스트레스에 가장 많은 영향을 미치는 것은 유아의 정서성이며, 두 번째로 영향력을 갖고 있는 변인은 어머니의 우울 성향인 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로 본 연구는 유아의 정서성 기질과 어머니의 우울이 유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 양육 스트레스에 영향을 미치는 중요한 변인이며, 이들 변인을 조절함으로써 어머니가 경험하는 양육 스트레스를 어느 정도 완화할 수 있음을 시사한다.
