생활사건 스트레스가 빈곤층 여성한부모의 우울에 미치는 영향 -영적안녕감의 조절효과를 중심으로- = Effects of Life-Events and Depression on Low-Income Single Mothers -Focused on Moderating Effects of Spiritual Well-Being-

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was not only to investigate the effect of stressful life events on depression but also to find out moderating effects of spiritual well-being as coping resources on the relationship between stressful life events and depression for low income single mothers. Demographic variables such as age, education, religion, monthly income, and health were controlled. Also, the cause of single motherhood and the period of single motherhood were controlled. The data was collected in 44 Community Welfare Centers and Self-Help Promotion Agencies using a self-reporting survey. For the purpose of the study, I recruited 393 low-income single mothers and 310 questionnaires were gathered and analysed. The major findings of this study were as follow: First, the results indicated that relationship between stressful life events and depression was positive, but that between spiritual well-being and depression was negative. Secondly, with moderating effects of spiritual well-being between stressful life events and depression the result showed that stressful life events and spiritual well-being(p<.01) was statistically significant. Third, interactions between social relation stress and spiritual well-being(p<.01), and between spouse loss stress and spiritual well being(p<.05) were statistically significant. Based on these findings, social work implications are as follows: First, spiritual well-being is very important coping mechanism intervening in the life crises for low-income single mothers. Secondly, integrated, holistic approaches including a psycho-social-spiritual model in crisis intervention have to be developed in social work practice.
