This study presents the learning community model for enhancing early childhood teacher's science teaching competency. To develop this model, the theoretical ground for a model was found on the basis of a review on learning community and science teacher education program. Then, 329 kindergarten teachers' requirements of learning community for enhancing science teaching competency were investigated. This constructed model consisted of basic viewpoints and purposes, contents and methods, organization and role of participator, and operating system of learning community.
This result shows the effects in views of offering teachers opportunity for new learning, sharing leadership, and offering true collaboration with each other. It implies that the learning community can possibly resolve traditional problems which have been inherited in early childhood science teacher education.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 유치원 교사의 과학교수능력을 향상하기 위한 학습공동체 모형을 개발하기 위한 것이었다. 이를 위하여 학습공동체 관련 문헌 및 국내외 과학교사교육 프로그램을 고찰하여 모형개발의 이론적 준거를 도출하였다. 모형개발의 실제적 준거를 위해서는 ‘과학교수 능력 향상을 위한 학습공동체 요구 조사’ 질문지를 작성하여 4개 기관에서 주관하는 연수에 참여한 유치원 교사를 대상으로 질문지를 배부, 회수한 뒤, 응답한 329명의 학습공동체에 대한 요구를 분석하였다. 이러한 이론적, 실제적 준거를 토대로 유치원 교사의 과학교수능력 향상을 위해 적합한 학습공동체 모형을 모형의 기본관점 및 목적, 내용 및 방법, 구성원의 조직 및 역할, 운영체제를 중심으로 제시하였다.
